GD Academy is a free UI/UX training and mentorship program built to empower ambitious young Ghanaians with real design skills and industry experience. It provides structured learning, hands-on practice, and real-world projects guided by experienced mentors. GD Academy is designed to help learners become job-ready designers, build strong portfolios, and confidently enter the global digital design industry.
The goal was to create a simple, accessible, and engaging learning experience for GD Academy that clearly communicates UI/UX training, mentorship, and career growth, while ensuring the program is designed for applicants 18 years and above. I focused on structuring the experience so learners could easily understand the journey from beginner to job-ready designer.
I started by mapping the user journey and defining key learning stages, then translated that into a clean UI system with clear hierarchy, simple navigation, and consistent visual patterns. The design was built to feel supportive and easy to follow, especially for beginners taking their first step into tech.
I explored different layout directions, typography styles, and visual tones before arriving at a final system that felt modern, educational, and trustworthy. The chosen direction balances clarity and creativity while reinforcing GD Academy’s focus on real-world skills, mentorship, and preparing young adults (18+) for opportunities in the digital design industry.
PROJECT OUTCOME
The final design for GD Academy delivered a clear, structured, and approachable learning experience that aligns with its mission of empowering young Ghanaians aged 18 and above. The platform now feels modern, trustworthy, and purpose-driven, making UI/UX education feel both accessible and aspirational.
The cohesive design system ensures long-term scalability, supporting future courses, mentorship programs, and career pathways without losing consistency or clarity. Every element was designed to reinforce learning, guidance, and progression, creating a seamless experience from application to skill development.
Early impressions highlight the platform’s clarity and ease of navigation, with users responding positively to its clean layout and supportive learning structure.
